TL;DR
During my tenure at Dentsu / Isobar, one of the exciting projects I had the pleasure to work on involved creating a 360-degree tour website. I personally crafted a bespoke 360 tour engine using Three.js and GSAP, enhancing the user experience. Our client for this project was none other than the esteemed Singapore government, and we meticulously ensured that the application met all their stringent technical compliance requirements.
Objective
The client wanted to create a 360-degree tour website that would allow users to explore the Singapore Navy's new warship. The website needed to be intuitive and easy to use, and it needed to be compatible with all devices and browsers. They also wanted to add some interactive elements to the website to enhance the user experience. Users feel like they are part of the action.
Challenges
There was no bespoke 360 tour engine available at the time, so I had to create one from scratch. I used Three.js and GSAP to create the 360 tour engine, which allowed me to create a fully customizable 360 tour engine that met all the client's requirements. I also had to ensure that the website was compatible with all devices and browsers, which meant that I had to test the website on multiple devices and browsers to ensure that it worked flawlessly. I have also built a custom 3D mapping tool for perfectly aligning the label anchors to the 3D model.
The other challenge was that this was a government project, so we had to ensure that the application met all the stringent technical compliance requirements. We had to ensure that the application was secure, accessible, and didn't have any performance issues. We had to do a penetration test to ensure that the application was secure.
Results
I had a lot of fun working on this project, and I'm proud of the final product. Everything was delivered on time, and the client was thrilled with the results. These virtual tours are still being used by the Singapore Navy website to this day.
